We've been roasting coffee since 2006. As a new family business, we opened our first cafe and roastery in a small drive-thru in Crystal Lake, IL. In 2010 we moved our cafe and roaster to a much larger space around the corner from the original cafe. In 2013 we purchased Cook Street Coffee in lovely downtown Barrington. In 2019 we opened in a totally rehabbed one hundred twenty year old building in downtown Cary, IL. And, in 2020, right before the pandemic, we opened in the heart of popular downtown Libertyville, IL. In December 2021 we opened our fifth cafe in densely populated Palatine, IL. This year, we've moved our roasting operations into a new headquarters now houses our entire operations; roasting, packaging, cold brew, syrups, training, cupping, catering, and offices. In Fall 2023 our beloved Barrington Cafe (Cook Street) underwent an expansion and full remodel. In January 2024 we opened and expanded concept within an office building in Lincolnshire where we operate a beautiful cafe within a working office. We are committed to strategic growth and creating opportunities for our team.

About the Job

All employees are expected to be able to produce exceptional quality coffee and espresso drinks. In this way, the job requires focus, expertise, practice, resilience, confidence. It requires a degree of physicalness. We are preparing incredible quality drinks, in a a very fast and sometimes hectic environment. We work hard to introduce and/or improve skills, but ultimately, the best baristas will be self driven.

At all times we are customer focused. The quality of the coffee is only as good as the customers experience of it. We connect in two ways with our customers: logically we want to be the objective best option in the market, emotionally we want to develop small and easy human connections that endear them to us, and us to them.

  • Candidates with Barista Experience are encouraged to apply. Industry professionals are encouraged to apply. Wages are competitive.

  • Barista Experience is not required.

  • Part Time Positions are available for High School students. Flexible Schedule is ideal for college students and part-time employees.

  • We all directly engage and strive to understand our customers.

  • We all clean counters, floors, under-bar areas, kitchens, dishes, equipment, ceiling vents, we change lightbulbs, shovel when it snows, run small errands.

  • Managers clean grinders, replace wearables.

  • We all rotate positions at the cafe. We great and ring up customers, work the mobile ordering line or the drive-thru in CL, we answer phones, we prepare drinks, we dial in grinders, test espresso and batch coffee, check the floor and tables, and we all prepare sandwiches, and prep food stuff in the kitchen.

  • We are all responsible for problems and challenges. We work together to figure things out, we notify each other when we discover small and big problems. We notify each other mistakes, we take ownership and feedback. We are accountable.

  • Empathy, acceptance and inclusion help us understand each other and our customers better.
