"Mandheling" is an older Dutch spelling of "Mandailing," which is an ethnic group, not a region. This coffee comes from near Lake Tawar in Sumatra, Indonesia. Sumatran coffees capture the wild jungle essence of this tropical Indonesian island.
Sumatran offer earthy, deep, complex, full-bodied coffee that exhibits low-acidity smoothness and a touch of forest floor funk. A great Sumatran is creamy, sweet, with a touch of butterscotch and spice. Our roast emphasizes the rich, full body of these coffees. Coffee Review awarded us 92-points for an early 2012 season roast of Sumatra Mandehling.
